WEEKLY WOKE DROP
DEI CASTING AND MORE
Even though The Odyssey won’t be out for another couple of months, it’s been in the news lately, mainly for the casting.
It’s rumored that Elliot Page will play Achilles, a warrior known for being handsome, fierce, strong, and loyal.
I can see it.
Makes sense.
Though Lupita Nyong’o plays Helen of Troy, Christopher Nolan, the director of the movie, missed an opportunity to cast another black actress:
The versatile actress Leslie Jones could have played Helen. I feel this would have been more inclusive.
And I’m sure you’ve seen who else is in the movie.
Travis Scott, he of the Astro World snafu when things went insane, and people died. I know you’ll be beyond thrilled to see him grace the big screen in The Odyssey.
In other casting news for the film, Zendaya will play Athena.
Just as Homer intended when he wrote the book (technically an epic poem).
And John Leguizamo will play Eumaeus. I cannot think of a better actor for the role except Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Something circulating right now is a new ad featuring Meghan Markle.
I think it’s for her lifestyle brand, but I honestly cannot be sure. For a candle? Jam? Tea? No idea.
Yes, it’s the Princess and me!
I have to point out the obvious, I used AI- I didnt really make that jam!
And lastly, everyone is talking about the Hanta Virus.
For the longest time, I have had the most irrational fear of rodents.
Viewing a mouse in the wild will send me into a panic. I don’t know why, I can see anything else like spiders, snakes, various bugs, and nothing makes me have an absolute panic attack like a rodent.
With the Hanta Virus, it’s terrifying to think someone could get close enough to become infected. I found this old clip from The Simpsons, and of course, I added myself to it for fun.
It’s still scary.
This is a sneak peek for an upcoming episode of UNWOKE. It drops every Monday and is the audio version of my book, which just came out last week!
Please check it out and share.

According to modern day black ghetto corner historians and like blacks have identified several other mistaken history books, black people were the Gods responsible for forming Greek society around the time of Helen of Troy so I can see where black actors might be wokely desired to make the movie inclusive.
