WEEKLY WOKE DROP
Here's what's on my mind
I’m exhausted.
I’ve been traveling a lot and trying to keep up with everything, but at this moment, my social media feed is this:
Women (and some men) of all ages are crazy for him.
My Instagram and TikTok feed is nothing but him: eating a steak, exercising, eating eggs, talking about sleep, adding maple syrup to his coffee, stretching, making funny videos, knocking people over on the pitch… it's never-ending.
I dont hate it.
I am intrigued by this phenomenon. He seemingly came out of nowhere and has taken up a room in our collective minds for the time being.
It’s more wholesome than war and violence, and that’s a good thing.
I did a Joey Breaux-Jon Bon Jovi mashup, and it sounds like the angels of heaven singing. Poor Jon, his voice took a dive, and he sounds terrible. Joey is known for sounding terrible.
Together, they are stronger.
I came across this and had to share. I saw Grease when I was in elementary school. Assuming I’d one day look like Cha Cha, I am deeply sorry to admit I still don’t look like her at all, in any way.
Here is a bonus episode of my podcast. UNWOKE is a serialized audio version of my book. If reading is not your thing, you can hear it read to you, a few chapters each Monday.
This one is a HALO VOSS:
A deleted scene from the UNWOKE archives. *satire*
Jebra is sitting in Los Angeles traffic listening to The Soft Awakening, the podcast where host Harper Solstice decenters urgency, reimagines compassion, and holds space for collective healing in a late-capitalist world.
Today’s guest is Halo Indigo Voss. Academy Award winner. Climate advocate. Founder of the HIVV Conscious Living Collective. Creator of the viral Vaccines Are Self-Care campaign. Author of Nourish the Resistance. And the creator of HIVE Honey serum at only $100 for two ounces.
Allow her to inspire you.
If you have any ideas on marketing this podcast and the book, please let me know!
Have you seen the Bounce dress? This weird trend is all over TikTok, mainly women wearing these types of dresses to church and praising the Lord in them. Watch how you can make the dress bop to the beat of the hymn!
*This is not Jamie Lee Curtis, by the way.
The other day, people were commenting on the absence of Mitch McConnell. No word on him yet.
For a while, everyone was saying that they had just spoken with him via phone. LIES.
I don’t always believe what I read, but I believe this, without a doubt.
Of all the places I long to visit, India is not one of them. I have a very sensitive stomach and fear I would return to the US with a variety of parasites taking up residence in my intestines.
Did you skip all of the Travis/Taylor wedding news? Anything I learned was against my will. I saw this rumored list and had to laugh.
A quick detour in content for a minute:
In June, I flew to Italy and went on a cruise. I love to see new places and was so excited, happy, and grateful to visit not only some cities in Italy but also Croatia.
I’m admittedly a terrible packer and always overpack. My suitcase weighed so much that I could not lift it without straining.
I will be sharing more photos from my trip in the paid newsletter this weekend!
Here are some items that I would HIGHLY recommend if you are traveling anywhere, especially overseas:
Reef Neptune Sneaker is probably the best shoe I have ever worn on a trip. Not only is the shoe light and airy, but it also provides great arch support, and a slightly wider toe box doesn’t make your toes scrunch.
I wore it with a sundress (strictly for comfort, not fashion) and also with pants.
Hotor Travel Duffel bag is perfect for a carry-on. The lower zippered part can easily fit shoes/hats. Inside, I placed my small purse. I used the little bag for my phone cords/ear-phones/glasses. If you are the kind of wizard who only packs using carry-on items, you will love this.
I am not.
I used it as an additional carry-on during the long flight.
Compression packing cubes are a must. This set is from kookoomia, I don’t know about some of these names.
I like to be very organized, and packing cubes help. These have an additional zipper to compress everything.
Boost the immune system while traveling! I always pack my vitamins plus Beekeepers Naturals Immune Support throat spray.
Quick-dry, lightweight shorts by G Gradual. I loathe shorts, but in the heat, I will wear them. These rolled up nicely, and black is my go-to neutral color.
Tanming (again with the weird names) linen pants do wrinkle, but this blue shade matches with a lot, and they are light and very comfortable.
I bought several T-shirts from Aerie because they are 100% cotton, which can be hard to find! If you are going to Europe in the summer months, ONLY WEAR cotton and linen.
Wear cotton socks. Get shoes with arch support, ideally sneakers. Those cobblestone streets and sidewalks are no joke. This is the first time I didn’t wear sandals, and I didnt get blisters, sore feet, or twisted ankles.
I love my OnCloud sneakers. These fit me perfectly and have arch support and cushioning. I wore these for heavy walking days. Two things I will always invest in: good jeans and good sneakers.
Many, many people, especially middle-aged people, wear Hokas and Skechers. I think Skechers must be the #1 shoe for people aged 35-85 because everyone wears them. Hokas are a close second.
I refuse to wear bikini bottoms to swim. I am way too self-conscious and spent years avoiding water of all kinds because I was not comfortable in what is essentially underwear. Thankfully, women's swim trunks are plentiful (at least on Amazon), and these Baleaf women’s swim trunks worked out well. You can get them in different lengths/sizes.
I bought a separate swim top to wear with them.
Last but not least, this dress from Pact. Made from organic cotton, it packed nicely, was very comfortable in the heat, and is high quality. It comes in a variety of patterns.
Anyway…
Last but not least, are you going to see The Odyssey? It’s three hours long, so I will wait until it’s on one of the many streaming services I have and don't use.
Thank you for reading and being a subscriber! Please consider being a paid subscriber, as I am a full-time writer and every bit helps me pay the bills.
You can follow me on X here; my book is available everywhere books are sold, and the podcast comes out each Monday on Spotify and Apple!

Those sneakers with a bouncing dress?
Being married to a German, I’ve known about Erling for a few years now. He played in the German top league for one year before transferring to England. He was incredible. The opposing team literally didn’t know what to do with this teenager (he’s even bigger now).
Thanks for the shoe recommendations!
